Irish Endocrine Society Key Dates for 2026

We are delighted to announce that Professor Mirjam Christ-Crain, from the University of Basel, Switzerland, will deliver the Hadden Lecture at the 50th Irish Endocrine Society Annual Meeting in Cork this November 2026.

Professor Christ-Crain is Professor of Endocrinology and Chair of the Endocrine Clinic at the University of Basel and University Hospital Basel.

She received her MD from the University of Basel and her PhD from Queen Mary University of London. She had a research professorship of the Swiss National Science Foundation and was the Chair of the Department of Clinical Research of the University of Basel. She has served on the Executive Boards of the Swiss Endocrine Society and the European Society of Endocrinology, where she is currently President-Elect. Professor Christ-Crain leads a clinical research team in the field Vasopressin-dependent fluid disorders and Oxytocin. Professor Christ-Crain published more than 400 manuscripts and received several awards for her research.

Professor Christ-Crain’s Hadden Lecture is titled “Vasopressin deficiency: new developments in diagnosis and treatment”.


We are delighted to announce that Professor Carla Moran will deliver the McKenna Lecture at the 50th Irish Endocrine Society Annual Meeting in Cork this November 2026.

Professor Carla Moran is a Consultant Endocrinologist at the Beacon Hospital, St Vincent’s University Hospital, and Rotunda Hospital, Dublin and an Associate Professor at University College Dublin.

Professor Moran completed a thyroid fellowship and PhD in Cambridge, UK, and has a clinical and research interest in thyroidology. Her subspecialty expertise includes disorders of thyroid hormone action (including syndromes of resistance to thyroid hormone), investigation of discordant thyroid function tests, and drug-induced thyroid dysfunction.

She has established a thyroid research group and a clinical referral service for rare thyroid disease in Ireland. She has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, including original research papers, book chapters and review articles. Professor Moran regularly contributes to international conferences as an invited speaker (over 100 to date), is an invited member of UK and European task forces for thyroid guidelines and is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Thyroid Association and British Thyroid Association. She was the recipient of the prestigious Van Meter Award from the American Thyroid Association in 2024 and the Mayo Clinic Samuel Haines award in 2026 for her contributions to thyroid research.

Professor Moran’s McKenna Lecture is titled “Advancing diagnosis, phenotyping and management of Rare Thyroid Disease”.
