We express our gratitude to Professor Peter Smyth, past-President of the society, for sending a copy of the programme of  the 1996 IES/ BES meeting held in Dublin, which incorporated a “Graves’ 200 International Celebratory Thyroid Meeting”. We are clearly overdue another occasion to mark the life and times of Robert Graves, and the disease that bears his name, perhaps the best known eponymous condition in medicine.
